SCAVENGER HUNT
For the month of June, Ranbow Reviews is hosting a literary scavenger hunt. Various authors will be hiding a small graphic somewhere on their site. Hunters will have to search the sites of the participating authors (who are listed on the Rainbow Reviews site) and find all the graphics. Just visit each site, find the graphic, and send ONE email listing all of the links where you found the graphic to scavenge@rainbow-reviews.com. You must have one link from each author to complete the scavenger hunt. The links in your email must go directly to the pages where you found the graphic. Any incomplete emails will be disqualified. On June 30th, the winners will be announced … one for each book we’re giving away!
I will be one of the participating authors. If you'd like to enter, or want more information. Check it out on their site at Rainbow Reviews Scavenger Hunt.
BOOK SIGNINGS
I've scheduled a second book reading and signing with the new editions of Bleeding Hearts and Reap the Whirlwind. It will be held on Saturday, June 14th from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. I'll be appearing with YA authors Brian Sloan and Nico Medina, and between the readings and the signing, there will be a Q&A session.
Brian, Nico and I will also be appearing at the Borders in Stafford, Virginia on June 19 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
For those of you not familiar with Brian and Nico, they are both up-and-coming gay YA authors.
Brian Sloan is also a film writer/director and has made such movies as WTC View starring Michael Urie (Marc St. James on Ugly Betty). Brian will be reading from his new book A Really Nice Prom Mess. High school senior Cameron Hayes gets coerced into going to the prom with a girl, even though he'd rather be with his boyfriend. The evening goes from bad to worse when his fake date gets sloshed, his boyfriend slugs him when he sees Cam kissing his fake date, and Cam flees the prom in disguise with a drug dealer. Then things really spin out of control. Over the course of one harrowing and hysterical night, Cameron's life comes undone, leading to accidental revelations, criminal adventures, and an unlikely romance.
Nico Medina is a 25-year-old professional copy editor and YA novelist. His first book, The Straight Road to Kylie, was well-received. He lives in New York City with his boyfriend of six years, Billy. Nico will be reading from his new book Fat Hoochie Prom Queen. Margarita "Madge" Diaz is fat, foxy, and fabulous. She loves herself, and is adored by almost everyone else...except queen bee/student-body president Bridget Benson. These two girls have a history that's uglier than a drag queen after last call. During a heated argument, they decide there's only one way to end their rivalry: be named prom queen and the other backs off -- for good. Of course, everything looks different in the sober light of morning, but pride is at stake and the race is on. Madge is committed to doing whatever it takes to secure the title, but so is Bridget. And everyone's got something to hide.
If you live in either of these areas, please come out and see us, and be sure to bring your questions! Hope to see you there.
Also, keep checking back, because I'm trying to schedule some more appearances. I'll add them as they are added.
SITE CHANGES
You may have noticed a couple changes on the navigational menu to the left. The Heart to Heart page is gone and a Blog page has been added. While I'm sad to see the Heart to Heart page go, the truth is I'm not going to be picking it back up any time soon. I just don't have the time or energy. You can only rant on a topic for so long before you run out of things to say about it. And to be honest, I was never sure if I was preaching to the choir or empty pews, but either way, I got a little burned out. Change is coming, but some days it seems like it's taking its sweet time. Besides, I'm keeping plenty busy with my work AfterElton.com and my own writing.
The new Blog page is one more way for everyone to keep up-to-date with what I'm doing. It's a feed from my blog on MySpace, which I update frequently. You don't have to have a MySpace account to read the blogs. Just click the links and the page will open in a new window.
ORDER YOUR SIGNED COPIES
Bleeding Hearts and Reap the Whirlwind are once again in print. You can order them online, from your local bookstore, or get signed copies directly from me. There are several shipping options, including to the UK. If you are from another country and would like to have a signed copy shipped to you, please email me and let me know and I'll set up a special ordering link for you.
Thanks for your patience and support!

VISIT THE FORUM
The new and improved Forum has lots of topics going. In many cases, I go into much more detail (not to mention, answer questions) than I do here on the News page. It would definitely be worth your time to head over and check it out.
You will have to register to participate (although anyone can read the postings), but you can enter as little as a username and password. Everything else is optional. This feature is designed to cut down on spam. Users can also upload avatars, create polls, and more. Click on over and check it.
SIGN UP FOR THE MAILING LIST
If you're not on the mailing list, sign up to receive regular updates about the stories, website, important news, and occasional personal messages from me, the author! There are two lists, which means you can choose your level of involvement. One is an announcement only list, the other allows for interaction among the list members, although it is still a very low-volume list. Both lists are hosted by Topica.
