It’s been a few months since you’ve heard from me and, for that, I apologize. To be fair, I was busy doing a massive rewrite of A Kind of Death! But I do have news. That initial rewrite is complete and has been sent off to my new editor.
As I mentioned in my last blog post, the core mystery (based on a real experience I had many years ago!) remains, but everything around it is brand new — including an entirely different cast of characters. The book is still a supernatural mystery, but the setting has changed.
So while we wait for a publication date, I’d like to take this chance to introduce you to the protagonist of this new series. His name is Cav Crawford. He’s twenty-one orphan, has more than a touch of the Sight, and is working as a private investigator while he finishes up college in Baltimore, Maryland.
Obviously, there are a few similarities to Killian Kendall, so if you loved the Killian series, there’s plenty here to love as well. But Cav is also a very different person, someone who came out at a young age and has always been supported by the people in his life, making him much more confident and comfortable in his own skin.
There’s no doubt it was hard to shift from Killian. I had to go through all the stages of grief before I could move on, but as I’ve gotten to know Cav and his friends and family better, I’ve come to love him just as much, and I’m very excited to see what adventures he finds in the future. I’m already working on the second book in the series.
But don’t worry, Killian fans. He’s not gone yet. I intend to take some of the deleted material from A Kind of Death and work it into a short story or novella, just to give him a little closure. And who knows what the future may hold…
In the meantime, as soon as I know a publication date, I’ll share it with you. Thank you to everyone for your support!
